Overall this is a good question. As you develop your thesis, I would focus your topic by specifying the "western" power and specific countries/regions in Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and East Asia. Finally, you may want to narrow your focus to two cultural regions so you can more fully develop your argument.
I think this is a very good question due to how specific and precise you were. My only thought is that your question may be too broad of a topic to answer in a single research paper. Maybe keeping the question to just one century would make it easier for you.
I like this question. I like that you specified that it was imperialism from the West.
