Therefore, the article encompasses this belief, by discussing how google has partnered up with a french business school, in a program called "Google @ HEC." This program will collaborate French students and American students, and will train all of them to become business entrepreneurs for Google as they advance through their studies. Furthermore, the article states that this partnership will be the first of many, as google is looking to broaden it's horizons in the future to come. Finally, this article supports Tapscott's views be encompassing and proving that collaboration could bring companies to their highest peak in business deals.

  2. “The Rise of the New Groupthink”
    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/15/opinion/sunday/the-rise-of-the-new-groupthink.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0
This article discusses how the culture of humans in the workplace, school, and religious places is changing to a more collaborative setting and less an individual one. The author writes that businesses are now working in teams to accomplish tasks and many school classrooms now have their desks set up in pods to create a more team setting so that the students can work together to answer questions instead of bothering the teacher. Even though the article discusses the pros of collaboration, it also talks about the loss of individualism. The author states that without individualism, creativity and privacy are lost. The article says that without individualism, single persons are unable to become geniuses of their own and they also lose the right of solitude. This article both proves and refutes the theories of Tapscott in the Collaboration section of “The Eight Net Gen Norms.” It verifies Tapscott’s accusations that collaboration is becoming the more sought out work method in the Net Generation world. But it goes on to say that with collaboration comes the loss of individualism which refutes Tappscott’s writings which state that collaboration is for the best.

  4. "Rethinking How We Teach The 'Net Generation'"
    http://www.npr.org/2011/07/14/137853462/rethinking-how-we-teach-the-net-generation
“Rethinking How We Teach The 'Net Generation'” primarily discusses how members of the “Boomer Generation” need to collaborate and create new ways to teach the members of the “Net Generation.” Throughout the article Don Tapscott is continually quoted and says that his generation, the “Boomers”, have grown up to learn that by going to lectures and sitting in classes for hours on end they will be able to understand the teachers lessons, but for the “Net Generation” they can open up their laptop and search for any answer of any question. Members of the “Net Generation” can even Youtube famous professors and doctors that discuss their theories in seminars instead of having to go to boring lectures. The article relates to “Growing Up Digital” not only because Don Tapscott is quoted in the article and is the author of “Growing Up Digital”, but because both the article and book discuss how collaboration has become a huge part of the “Net Generations” lives not only by how well they perform in school, but how well they perform in future jobs and careers. An example of this is when Tapscott states in his book that by having one “model” teacher isolates students learning process and that it is essential to students performance that instructors need to collaborate and find new ways to intrigue students into paying close attention in order for them to grasps the teachers key concepts of his or her lesson. Overall, the article directly relates to the book “Growing Up Digital” because both discuss the necessity of collaboration among members of the “Boomer Generation” to discover new ways to teach students of the “Net Generation.”

  5. "Web Activists Celebrate 'Internet Freedom Day'" http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/technology/web-activists-celebrate-internet-freedom-day/2013/01/18/45655826-617d-11e2-9940-6fc488f3fecd_story.html

Tapscott explains in his fifth norm of collaboration that the Net Gen loves to work together. People are eager to work together and believe that they can help businesses and companies because large groups working together can achieve much more than two people working together or even one person working alone. People also want to have an influence on companies to help achieve what would take a large number of people working together to achieve. This article explains the successes and future plans of web activists working together to stop Internet piracy acts. One year ago, they celebrated an end to two such acts. This year, they remembered victories over two more piracy acts. In the future, they plan to continue defeating such acts in an attempt to win increased Internet freedom. Their success reinforces Tapscott's point that working together can help people and groups achieve much more. Working as a group, the activists were able to defeat four piracy acts already, more than just one person could have done.

  6. "Young Chinese artists forge connections online"
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-10651780

In this norm, Tapscott explains how the Net Gen uses collaboration in technology. With Facebook, video games, school projects files and work the Net Gen constantly finds new ways to collaborate with one another. In this article a Chinese- American Sean Leow, moved to china to only discover underground arts and creative events. With growing interest in these arts Sean created a website called Neocha.com. This website allows young aspiring creative artists, musicians, animators and painters and opportunity to create unique profiles of their own work and link it to others. This website publicizes their events and gets interest in others to collaborate and work with them in the real world as well as the website. Having sites like these just demonstrates Tapscott’s norm of how the Net Gen uses technology and collaboration in everyday life.

  7. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/31/education/harvard-says-125-students-may-have-cheated-on-exam.html
In the book "Grown Up Digital", the author Don Tapscott states that one of the norms is collaboration. He supports this by saying social networking is a place where conversations and collaborating take place. In addition it states that friends influence other friends on what to buy and what not to. The article "Harvard says that 125 studentsmay have cheated on a final exam" supports that technology is a place to collaborate. In the investigations of the students, the author of this article was saying that the culprite for the upcoming students to work together is technology. Some experiences in my life is that, a teacher may assign a task for a group but instead of writing it on paper the group opens google docs. Google Docs allows me an my partners to write the essay together. In addition if we did not have Google Docs, we could be able to send emails asking questions about the document or actually sending the document.

  8. "Tweet and Teach: A Fast Way to Share Best Classroom Practice"
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/classroom-innovation/tweet-and-teach-share-classroom-practice
This article describes how classrooms and teachers are now using twitter to communicate with the students. It is a fast effective way to alert them with reminders. Since teachers do not have much spare time between lessons, meetings, and paperwork, tweeting is a quick way to get through. The use of twitter allows direct collaboration between teacher to student and student to student. Updating to this fast paced trend is just another step to rethinking education. This relates to the norm because Tapscott touches upon how the Net Generation naturally works with one another and uses online resources. The Net Generation prefers to work with one another to achieve a common goal and resolution. With the incorporation of twitter in school, students can work together easier.
